Bernard Werber : science-fiction or reality ?

Bernard Werber. Le papillon des étoiles

Bernard Werber take us in fields unknown with elfs, centaurs and others fantastics creatures. But there is a part or reality in his novels : a philosophy on the world and little thoughts on the human being.

"On ne peut pas éternellement fuir..."

Bernard Werber is obsess by the world of ant. Why ? Because this civilization works better than our civilization. It exists since thousands of years and it found a balance within the society. We should take example on the ants because they possess the key of the social intelligence.

He is aware that the humanity destroys the Earth because of the war, the pollution and all the drifts. We need to find a solution before it is too late.

The papillon des étoiles is the story of a engineer in aeronautics who has the head in stars. He creates a spaceship to go to a new earth in another galaxy because he thinks that our earth is condemned. A great dreamer of a better world whithout conflicts...

And why not use rationality and science to a noble cause ? It is this crazy bet that Yves Cramer aims at achieve : to start again elsewhere.

The sort of humanity in only man's hands...

Werber reconciles at last the rational and the spiritual : proof that it is not incompatible. His science-fiction gives the possibility to think about our condition of human being.

The last hope is to stay. The papillon des étoiles, it is a vessel of the last chance to save the humanity. 144 000 passengers on board an huge solar sailboat are propelled in the interstellar space for a thousand years travel. Their descendants will know if the human adventure is possible in another place.

The morality of the story is that escaping is not the solution : it is better to face our problems even if it is lost in advance. Indeed, we repeat the same errors elsewhere... Is it finish bad ? Not really when we know the philosphy of Bernard Werber : not good not bad.
